Maurice Taquoy was born at Mareuil-sur-Ay in the Marne region of France in 1878. He lived and worked in Paris, and exhibited from 1905 at the Salon des Indépendants and Salon d’Automne, as well as other major Parisian venues. He also worked in Deauville where he was often chosen to illustrate the racing programs.
He was also a skilled watercolourist and engraver. He illustrated the book “Le pesage” by Jean Trarieux, one of the best racing writers in early 20th century France. He also designed scarves for the Hermes fashion house.
